James P. Alampi is the former President and Chief Executive Officer of e-Chemicals Inc., the first business-to-business e-commerce distributor in the chemical industry. e-Chemicals provides a compelling combination of 24-hour a day/seven day a week availability, Internet technologies, advanced logistics and integrated direct marketing that benefits chemical sellers and buyers. Alampi serves on the e-Chemicals Board of Directors and advises the company on strategy and funding issues.

Alampi was formerly Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of Insurance Auto Auctions, Inc. (NASDAQ: IAAI), a leading provider of total loss vehicle and claims processing services in the United States. Mr. Alampi was recruited by the Board of Directors in March 1996 to build a management team, develop a vision and provide the leadership to turn the organization around following a precipitous decline in performance in 1995.

Alampi was previously President of Van Waters and Rogers, the U.S. subsidiary of Univar Corporation, North America's leading distributor of industrial chemicals. Alampi started his relationship with Univar in December 1978 when he joined VWR Scientific, a then subsidiary of Univar Corporation. During his nine-year tenure, Alampi held positions as District Manager, Vice President, International Group, Vice President Administration and Logistics, and Senior Vice President.

In March 1988, Alampi moved to VWR Corporation (NASDAQ: VWRX), the 1986 spinoff company of Univar and parent of VWR Scientific, as Corporate Vice President, Administration.

In July 1990, he returned to Univar Corporation as Director, Logistics Systems and in June 1991, he became Senior Vice President, Finance and Administration. He was named President of Van Waters & Rogers Inc. in January 1992.

Alampi earned his bachelor's degree from Rutgers University, and served three years as an officer in the U.S. Army.

He is a member of the Council of Logistics Management, a member of the Warehouse Education and Research Council, and has served as an officer and director of numerous other industry trade associations. He chairs the local United Way campaign and is active in other civic groups.
