Leigh Thompson, a native of Charleston, SC and former pharmacologist who invented the most widely used artificial blood, was a Johns Hopkins internist, Western Reserve Professor of Medicine and critical care specialist. He is an honorary life member and past President of the Society of Critical Care Medicine and is co-editor of The Textbook of Critical Care and Critical Care: State of the Art. He has authored more t han 220 scientific papers and edited nine books.
Leigh, a pioneer in telemedical education, was the medical news reporter for NBC-TV and, most recently, Chief Scientific Officer of Eli Lilly and Company.
He lectures and publishes globally on the following subjects: current research, poisons, drugs, where drugs come from, health, health economics, self abuse and managed care paradigms.
Recently focusing on HMO's, Leigh speaks on key management/organizational topics such as resilient enterprise strategies, seamless process re-engineering, fractal portfolio management and achieving personal perfection.
Leigh has given 100's of customized lectures and keynote addresses. He is currently on two dozen corporate, academic and civic boards.
