FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--(Jan. 31, 1996) -- CD Solutions, Inc., today announced that it has formed an alliance with the NewMarket Business Forum, a Boston-based on-line information firm, to help business and professional associations teach their members how to best take advantage of the Internet.
As part of their initial work with associations, both companies are offeringUsing the Internet for Profit, an instructional and reference CD-ROM from CD Solutions that provides interactive links to the Internet and educates users on accessing and using the Internet. On-site training and presentations are also being made available.
NewMarket Business Forum President Bob Scott said, "Nearly all professional and business associations are looking for new ways to help their members. Teaming with CD Solutions lets us add significant value by helping those organizations help their members profit from the Internet."
CD Solutions President Paul Earl said the joint venture will enable both organizations to combine their strengths to help business professionals gain access to what he called "the most powerful business-building tool available."
Thousands of associations exist in the U.S. today, according to estimates by the American Society of Association Executives. These organizations unite people into communities of common interest, in service to their professions and localities. According to Scott, these groups are well positioned to capitalize on the Internet because members need a vehicle to communicate, get information quickly and stay on top of their area of interest.
"While many companies are aware that the Internet can help them, most don't know how to fully use the Internet as a business-building resource," Earl said.
He added that most business organizations can use the Internet to help their members find prospects and business partners, study new markets, support existing customers and close business. The Internet, he said, can be especially valuable for smaller to medium-sized companies which ordinarily don't have the technical and market research services that larger companies normally have.
"Because information is key to managing nearly every organization, obtaining the right data and using it effectively can be the highest payoff investment a company can make," Earl said. "Knowing how to tap the Internet may therefore be the smartest investment a company or organization can make."
