Interactive Training, Inc. Acquires Newmarket Forum

Interactive Training, Inc. announces the purchase of NewMarket Forum, a comprehensive Internet business comprised of its' award winning web site and proprietary databases, and targeted to serve the information needs of business professionals, associations, training professionals and organizations, and commercial organizations.


FRAMINGHAM, MA August 21, 1996 -- Interactive Training, Inc. announced the purchase of NewMarket Forum from NewMarket Ventures, a Boston-based venture development and marketing firm. The purchase price was not disclosed.

"The acquisition of NewMarket Forum serves as a spring board to accelerate our presence on the Internet with an award winning, comprehensive business site that brings effective, interactive, and engaging multimedia training and information resources to the desktops of corporate users around the world" commented Paul Earl, CEO of Interactive Training.

NewMarket Forum's web site contains various proprietary databases with full search capabilities; communications, feedback, and product ordering capabilities; an exhaustive web site directory with links to key business sites; and expanded information on numerous associations and other organizations. Its' Resource Center contains information on over 1,000 businesses and other sources of information resources, published data, speakers, and financial services. The Associations Directory is a searchable database of over 10,000 associations and professional business groups with detailed product and event profiles. The Events Directory is a searchable database of over 1,000 major trade shows, conferences, and seminars.

NewMarket Forum currently has several contracts and alliances with associations, corporate training companies, and speaker bureaus - including Management Roundtable, Association for Manufacturing Excellence, American Marketing Association (Boston), and American Program Bureau - to provide promotional, electronic marketing, and content development services.

Through its various resources, the NewMarket Forum site provides a one-stop information repository that makes it easier for business professionals to find information on products, seminars, conferences, and people from tens of thousands of professional associations, Chambers of Commerce, training organizations, and other commercial organizations. Over the next several months, Interactive Training will enhance and expand the NewMarket Forum site by adding a training products center, bulletin boards hosted by experts, enhanced search capabilities, links to interactive CD-ROMs, and a trainer's planning and budgeting tool.

Interactive Training, Inc., formed in May of this year, creates and develops interactive training products, and will be a comprehensive on-line source for promoting, distributing, evaluating, and purchasing business-related training products and services. Interactive Training had previously acquired CD Solutions, a CD-ROM publishing division of International Data Group.
