Apprenticeship Program:
Many state coordinators offer informal programs to help new members learn by working with established consultants. The programs vary by state, but offer an excellent opportunity to learn the business from the experts.
Professional Development:
Designed to enhance the skills of novices and experts alike, a Professional Development Program leads members through the intricacies of the wedding business.

Beginning with individual courses in a home study program, the Professional Development Program provides recognition at the levels of Professional Bridal Consultant, Accredited Bridal Consultant and Master Bridal Consultant.

To reach Master Bridal Consultant, it takes at least six years, with three years required between levels to allow increasing experience in the field. Each level requires demonstration of increasing levels of knowledge and sophistication in the wedding business.

Tapping a wide range of sources, the Association has created--as the first step in the Professional Development Program--a comprehensive, five-part home study program that provides the training a professional bridal consultant needs. The courses are: Etiquette, Sales and Marketing, The Wedding Day, Related Services, Planning and Consulting.

There is a fee. Members may enroll in each course separately, or in the entire program. Certificates are awarded for completion of each course and for each designation.
Vendor members and Bridal Retail members are not eligible for this benefit.
Education:
Since an educated bride is your best consumer, the Association works through various means to provide this education. Training programs are available that members can use to teach the bride (and make a profit at the same time). Continuing liaison with the major bridal publications ensures recurring articles about consultants, and advertising and media relations continuously place wedding professionals in front of the bride.

The Association also provides support materials for members who teach classes through adult education and other programs.
