About the company....
Incorporated in September, 1985, Domain is a leading-edge specialty retailer of exclusive, high quality, designer home furnishings to better customers with self-expressive style. The company operates 23 stores from Boston, MA to Washington, DC in upscale regional shopping malls and at freestanding locations.
Domain offers a diverse selection of private label home furnishings with updated European traditional styles including living room, dining, bedroom, home office, and antiques. To compliment the upholstered and casegood products, Domain offers a broad range of eclectic decorative accessories including rugs, lamps, pillows, throws, and bedding. These exquisite home furnishings and their presentation are chosen to stir peoples~ passions, inspire their creativity, and help transform their home into an individualized ~domain.~ The thought in creating Domain was to make originality more accessible and affordable. Domain has its own ideas and designs that are translated by select craftspeople who understand and share the company~s vision.
Meet our speaker...
Judy George and success are well matched. By combining her energy, creativity, determination and business savvy, George has created one of the hottest specialty home furnishing concepts in the United States. As Chairman and Chief Executive Office of Domain, the Boston-based specialty chain, she has established her place at the forefront of the home furnishings industry.
George launched her career at the age of 32 after raising four children. She started her own company, Ideas by George, which offered design and marketing consultation services. Eventually she assumed the position of Director of Design Studios for a large home furnishings company. In 1976, she joined Scandinavian Design as executive Vice President and was subsequently promoted to President. Seeking another challenge, George left in 1985 to develop the building blocks for the home furnishings empire she is now in the process of creating.
